Internship Opportunities with Sean Hayes 4 CT Campaign for Mayor of West Haven

Sean Hayes is running for mayor of West Haven, CT.



Sean Hayes 4 CT is seeking internship applications for positions covering a wide spectrum of campaign responsibilities. The specific positions that we are seeking applicants for include the following:


1. Communications Director

Will lead the candidates’ communications and programmatic goals that include, but are not limited to: Building relationships with the press; setting up interview opportunities; writing copy for internal and external communications (fundraising letters, newsletters, emails, print collateral, website, social media, etc.); maintaining the website and social media accounts.


2. Press Secretary

Press secretary shall develop, manage and organize communications activities, including writing press releases, talking points, organizing local press events, updating the official website, coordinating with reporters, executing social media posts.


3. Field Director

The field director makes sure the campaign gets its message out through direct voter contact. The main responsibility is to develop a comprehensive plan that includes door knocking and phoning to ID voters and persuade them about the benefits of candidate. The field director needs to be highly organized, energetic, capable of motivating and managing staff and volunteers and able to manage large quantities of data.


4. Scheduler The scheduler is responsible for accepting and acting on all invitations, seeking out potential events and putting together the candidate’s schedule. The scheduler briefs about each of the events and gives proper directions, contact information, and collects briefing information from the other team members on each event. The scheduler also ensures that candidate call-time and voter contact time is the top priority. The scheduler needs to be assertive, meticulous with details, pleasant on the phone and able to say “no” when necessary.


The campaign is also seeking applicants for general positions within the campaign. Interns are expected to conduct some of the following responsibilities:


• Planning and coordinating

• GOTV operations

• Canvassing

• Voter and community organization engagement

• Attending community events and campaign functions

• Social Media management


Interns should expect to gain substantial experience in senior level campaign positions collaborating closely with the candidate and campaign leadership. Applicants should be able to work within a team in a fast-paced environment, have proven leadership skills and experience managing high-level responsibility. Applicants should have a strong interest in public service.
